MEET YOUR FARMERS

Like you, we sought healthy food for our family that was produced locally by farmers who cared about the land, the animals and truly nutritious food.  We began farming on our homestead of 2 acres and then leased some land next door and after 2 years moved to our new location in lovely Leonardtown.

Ed was raised in Hemet, California the son of Dutch immigrants, who came to the land of opportunity to practice veterinarian medicine.  Ed was involved with farming from an early age through his father’s veterinary practice, 4H and FFA.  He loves his new 'office' and the open farm land which reminds him of the big skies of California.

KC grew up in a theatrical family in Hollywood, California (LOL- the west coast Hollywood!) and received training in the performing arts.  Farming is a life long dream for KC and it cracks her up when she thinks about the fact that her favorite reading is now "Stockman's Grass Farmer".

The Schnitker family decided to start farming after learning about and personally experiencing the affects eating "real food" could have on health and vitality.  We wanted to provide our children with nutritious food and also make it available to our community.

Together KC and Ed and the Schnitker family are working to make Cristo Rey Farm a strong local supplier of healthy, nutritious food produced in a way that is beyond organic, humane and environmentally enhancing.
